By default, access to your DMS system is on port 23. Unless you have specifically configured your system differently, this is the port that we will use to access your system.
How do I set up my DMS system for TCP/IP access? All you need to do to set up your DMS system for TCP/IP access is forward port 23 to the machine that hosts your DMS system. If you are not familiar with your router configuration, or don't wish to change your router settings on your own, please contact your network administrator for more information. Alternately, Authenticom's tech support department would be happy to assist you.
Can you access my network if I set up TCP/IP access? Yes and no. By forwarding port 23 to the machine hosting your DMS system, you give us access to your DMS system. Your DMS system is still protected by a username/password, and we can no more access other machines on your network than if you gave us modem access. This will not compromise your network security or confidential customer information.
Why should I set up my DMS system for TCP/IP access?
If you have modem only access to your DMS system, only one person can access your DMS system at a time per each modem on your system. TCP/IP protocol allows multiple simultaneous connections without the hassle of multiple modem numbers.
A TCP/IP network connection is more reliable than a modem connection; no more busy signals or dropped connections.
You can access your DMS system from home without keeping that old modem and the extra phone line via your high-speed broadband internet connection.
Faster transfer speed: we don't tie up your modem all night trying to pull last week's service data this makes us and your other business information partners very happy.
